The Russian Railway Museum has opened an exhibition dedicated to Andrei Vasilyevich Khrulev – army general, legendary People's Commissar of Railways and head of the Rear of the Red Army.

The exhibition is located inside a covered four-axle carriage in the permanent exhibition of the museum, which was not previously accessible to the public. Guests will be able to get acquainted with the key episodes of A.V. Khrulev's activity in leadership positions during the Great Patriotic War: the development of the Rear Service of the USSR Armed Forces, the construction of new railway lines, the supply of besieged Leningrad and the formation of special reserve locomotive columns that played an important role in the Battle of Stalingrad and other battles.

"The painstaking work on the creation of the exhibition has been carried out over the past few months. I am sure it will become a monument not only to the heroism and brilliant organizational talent of Andrei Vasilyevich, but also to the steadfastness, courage and dedication of Soviet soldiers and railway workers," said Vladimir Odintsov, Director of the Russian Railway Museum.

According to Irina Khruleva, associate professor of the History Faculty of Moscow State University, granddaughter of the general: "Without a clear, well-coordinated, systematic, impeccable work of the Rear of the Armed Forces, no most numerous army will be able to fight and will not be able to win victories." Irina Yuryevna also noted that the main character traits of Andrey Vasilyevich were crystal honesty, integrity, kindness and attention to people. "He had the main humanitarian mission in that war – he had to feed, clothe people, restore the infrastructure of the liberated cities, organize evacuation and treatment of the wounded."

In honor of the opening of the exhibition, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Saveliev sent congratulations to the staff of the Russian Railway Museum and the curators of the exhibition: "Your work to perpetuate the contribution of A.V. Khrulev to the development of railway transport in the country is important for the preservation of the cultural heritage of the industry and the education of the younger generation."

The exhibition is included in the permanent exhibition of the Russian Railway Museum. The visit is based on an entrance ticket.
